These are attractive spring flowering bulbs for humus rich soil in part or light shade. They prefer a humus rich soil with plenty of moisture available when in leaf. The plants vary in size from a dwarf 4" to medium sized 10". Flowers in March and April. Their common name Dog’s Tooth Violet refers to their pointed bulbs. They are planted as dormant tubers in the autumn, 6" deep and 4" apart. The bulbs must not be allowed to dry out before planting. They are summer dormant.
